  1. seemed like a good crowd...I was pretty close to the front and was focused on my little one not wandering too far, but looking back I saw a sea of people
  2. I was able to go...It was fantastic... I'm kind of an airhead, that along with trying to keep track of my very excited 4 year old who was dancing in the aisles with my neice and nephew, I'll try to site a few high lights.... The award was given by a few, but most notably Rick Kogan who is a writer for one of the Chicago newspapers and also a long time DeYoung family friend..very nice intro to Dennis who's speech included Thanks to his kids CarrieAnn and Matthew, for first the sacrifices they made throughout their lives having to accompany him on the road, and also for their contributions to his career in their adult lives via Carrie with the pubicity and Matthew with the lighting that he contnues to do for him. Thanks also to Suzanne, noting their 40 year marraige and how he isn't "Him" without her (I'm not exactly quoting..doing my best)...he thanked his parents of whom are deceased, and also his sister Darcy. Said, "and this important" thanks to my former bandmates acknowledging their contributions together as a group and their successes which I thought showed a HUGE amount of class(as always)....also thanked his current line up band....talked of his love for the city of Chicago and why he still lives there quoting "Southbound Ryan"..People ask me why I still live in the city...seems half the population took a bus to Hollywood...etc....then started a fantastic set of music, old favorites and also 100 Years From Now and one other from the new CD. The venue was beautiful....I had never seen it before. They all sounded great, looked great...weather was perfect, it was a really great night.
  3. I mean no disrespect but you are definately wrong. Chuck Lofrano is John and Chuck's first cousin. Their mother is Betty Lofrano who is Chuck's aunt, sister to his father. Dennis is Chuck's brother in law because their wives are sisters, thats the only Lofrano/DeYoung family connection. The Bob Lofrano you are talking about is Chuck's cousin...a relative of John and Chuck's but most definately not related to Dennis...
  4. If you're talking about the Chuck Lofrano who is Dennis' brother in law, he doesn't have any brothers. There are a LOT of Lofrano's, but not all of them are related to Dennis.
  5. I don't think you missed it.... If I'm not mistaken it's this coming weekend
  6. HAHA!! LOL! What a finger slip that was.... of course I meant to say "IT was VERY VERY good" sorry about that...it was late here ;p
  7. I was there too Word from the village is that it was the biggest crowd they have ever had for any act. We got there just as the show started and there was absolutely no room to stand or sit. We kept being asked or more told really to move along.... understandable as it was clear the crowd was there for quite a while and we were told at times we were in fire lane areas etc etc. We eventually got comfortable and enjoyed the show.....I was Very Very Good ;P
  8. it was kind of brought to my attention....wanted to be sure I was clear too in what I said....didn't want to get into any trouble
  9. In fairness.....this was what I said..... "Being a huge fan of Dennis' voice a concern of mine was who could possibly sing those powerful songs other than him? The singing talent was tremendous....especially with regard to the part of Frollo"

  11. I just wanted to add a few more reviews that express the way I feel and what the many others present that night thought about this play.... http://www.chicagocritic.com/html/the_hunc...notre_dame.html http://www.suntimes.com/entertainment/weis...Hunch21.article Thinking about starting another thread for these .....
  12. te name='ladybugking' date='May 21 2008, 10:01 AM' post='5837']I posted a comment. Any of you who have seen it -- it would be nice to have your feedback as well. I think those who read the review might like to hear a bit of a different take from the comments. I was there Monday night and thought the show was brilliant. This reviewer seems to have missed something that is key. This story is about Frollo's decent. So it would make sense that while in other interpretations of this classic tale the other characters may have more focus. The transitions of Frollo were very well thought out and acted with perfection. Being a huge fan of Dennis' voice a concern of mine was who could possibly sing those powerful songs other than him? The singing talent was tremendous....especially with regard to the part of Frollo. One could clearly see the strength and eventual torment portrayed by this fabulous actor and the progression therein. I was captivated from the very first word. I was moved to tears. I laughed, I was breathless at times. Yes, the setting was modest, but to me that just magnified the strengths of the actors and the words that they spoke and sang. I seriously forgot that there were no set changes, no physical props such as furniture or backdrops on the stage. The direction the actions on stage made me feel I was in different places at different times. That truely says something. I am fortunate enough to live near the city of Chicago and absolutely intend on returning to the theater to see this play. There is not a bad seat in the house.
  13. Oh Hey...didn't realize it was your day! Happy Birthday Ron!!! and thanks for everything ;P
  14. probably a silly question, but do you know what #1 that is referring to? Is it #1 requested, or #1 ranking in that particular part of Canada? Just curious. Either way it's great news!!
  15. Maybe a little of topic but still applies to the "Isn't ironic, don't you think" category, I was watching VH1 honors a few nights ago. There was a commmercial on for the up coming DefLepard tour, with special guests Styx (actually Foreigner too) but when they mention Styx, they use one song.....Come Sail Away. I find it somewhat interesting that off all the songs that could be used, they used one sung and written by Dennis....hmmmmm
