Rubulator2k
So I'm over a friends, and GI comes on... sounds fine... song ends... the jock comes on and starts rambling about how he always perplexed about how poorly the production was on Styx material... He states that, take a song like the Grand Illusion that we just played, such a BIG song, Grand, but it sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom... ...... ...... WTF!! If he thinks he's perplexed..... I'm perplexed that he thinks that.... Perhaps someone needs a hearing exam... or better equipment... Then another day the jock on Sirrus... talks about Guns and Roses hall of fame... she goes on a good 3 or 4 minute rant about Axl Rose and what a snot he is for not showing up and how nasty he looks these days.... WTF!!.... Can we please just spin the music and STFU.... Oh and on the STFU topic... I listen to 104.3 here in the NY market... Carol Miller, who has been a jock on Rock stations since forever... She's so into the sound of her voice these days that she keeps right on talking over the beginning of the songs... like sometimes a good 10-15 seconds... sometimes the best parts of a song are the lead ins..... just because the vocals havent started does not mean its ok to talk over it.... again... WTF!! I'm done... carry on... PeAcE... R2K...
Ron
"Regular" radio absolutely stinks! XM used to be the best when it came to the music, but since they were bought out by Sirius they are just as bad. Jocks don't just shut up and play the music. If what they were saying was entertaining it would be one thing but it's nonsense and unimportant crap. I don't care that you are the "original MTV VJ's" on the 80's channel--play the music, and it better not be the same old crap. It's all "voice tracked" as well (not live) to they are absolutely useless. As far as TGI not sounding "big", I wonder how old that jock was. (Most of us) grew up with 1970's technology, and can appreciate how things have advanced. If it was someone younger, who is used to systems with subwoofers and today's technology, anything recorded back in the dark ages will sound flat. A system today that someone can put in their garage for $1000 is better than the state of the art equipment in the mid 70's!

Its just as bad as back in the day when they would play Springsteen every third song practically... I'm not a big Bruce fan but it was so obvious even fans commented... Its about the music, and diversity there of, but these ego'ed up jocks don't get it.... plus program directors are like soup nazi's... NO deep tracks for you!!! I agree on the dated production techniques and equip... but I guess I expect a jock to know that and make that part of the observation, which he did not... but whatever... It just annoyed me... which gets easier every year lol... omg I'm becoming my crabby but loveable grandfather...
Ron
I'm not even looking for deep tracks. For example, a "classic rock" station will play Renegade, Come Sail Away, and maybe Lady. THAT'S IT. How about a few other tracks to mix it up a bit
