Tom Sharpe solo concert

If you think Tom is amazing behind the drum kit for Dennis' show, you should see him in action performing his own music. Not only is it an entertaining show with good music, but he is a perfect example of how you can have an obstacle and then overcome it.

Allow me to explain: Tom's first CD was created completely in the studio by him. The title track Like Setting Myself on Fire was the grand prize winner of Song of the Year in the John Lennon Songwriting contest. Another track, Trance-formation, was also a finalist. So here is an artist that now has to perform live musical pieces that were created in the studio. Some artists resolve this problem by prerecording almost everything, then going on stage and they just "press play". But this isn't really a "live" performance then. What Tom has done is created a stage layout where he is able to perform almost all of the parts live. I have never seen such a huge setup just for one person! Although there are a few parts that are recorded, they are either short segments that are triggered, or something like a background bass line. He also uses several instruments from around the world that give a rather unique sound to his performance.

With an over-energetic performer on stage, and a completely unique setup, you know you're going to have a great show. The music was fantastic, too. Tom frequently does shows in the Chicago area. If you're a music lover, I highly suggest you check one out.
