  1. hey amanda, i'm happy to see that you enjoyed; i almost made it but--- if you would have called me, i would have been tempted ! that being said, how was the mood in the crowd ! how big was the crowd? ? since this is a fairly big festival, i'm imagining a bigger crowd than at the ste-adele show; how were the responses to the new songs? anyway, nice to hear you had a good time !!!
  2. by the way amanda, i finally decided to go to bourboun street for the show; the cd got me all excited !!
  3. Hello everyone, So I carefully listened to the CD twice since i received it and my impression are as followed ! Out of all the songs, my favorites, so far, have been : ''This time next year'': love the rock edge of the song; it is a more modern type of rock song without the shouting ! love the beat and the guitar work. ''Breath Again: super nice harmonies and absolutely love the way DDY changes the tone of his voice throughout the song; has anybody noticed the R&B section !!! A gem ! ''I don't believe in anything'': this is the song that stands out for me because it is so NOT typical of a dennis song; it feels like a cowboy song and his voice is on a rougher edge; love the rhythmic section of the song; it sounds slightly like bon jovi's ''dead or alive'' but performed with a much more talented singer (in my opinion); sounds like styx in some harmonies; The rest of the album is excellent but i will have to listen to it about one hundred times again and again ! to conclude, i think that, in total objectivity, out of all DDY's solo project, this is , by far, his best album because it shows the maturity of the music, his voice is impeccable, the R&B moments of the CD combined with the rock edge is phenomenal. Anybody noticed that the songs are longer and you never know when it will end; a lot of surprises as well as many instrumental sections; it makes a huge difference in the quality of the work; There are no silly songs on it like ''hip op crisy or gravity or anything like that''; why do people want to hear a 60 year old guy shouting and screaming and pretend like he was 25 again; this is not what i wanted and this is not what i got ! I did not want to hear a copy of come sail away or sweet madame blue; All in all, best solo dennis CD by far !!!!
  4. Hello everyone, Listening to chom in montreal this morning got me all excited; they are really pushing the new album so do not forget tonight at 8pm for the launching premier of 100 years; they played a new track which the host thought it was one of the best one on the CD; ''Breath Again''; i could only listen to it just a few seconds but i think we might be surprised by the quality of this album; i mean that i am expecting a more ''group'' album and less of a DDY solo album; don't know if you know what i mean but i will give you guys my thoughts on it after hearing it ! If i don't get my order from amazon by tomorrow, i guess i will just have to go and get a second one directly from the store ! Goodbye for now
  5. hello there, just a quick question; during the halifax show, did it seem to you that it was a full house ! As well, how did the crowd respond to the new songs ! thanks for the great reviews !!!!!!!!! i'm still thinking about going to the bourbon street show , just to see Glen !
  6. you are absolutely right; it is history but it has been inside of me for so long and i just had to let it out !! i feel better now so.... T.O.M is one of the greatest styx songs of all time as far as i'm concerned ! always thought that their best songs were not necessarely their most popular ! thanks for your thoughts !
  7. Hello everyone, I have had a lot of thoughts over the last few months about Dennis and all and i would like to share them with you; First , i've been a fan in montreal for the last 20 years and have loved my dennis-styx experience. I saw the original band about nine times and the Dennis show six times, including twice this year. I have been impressed by the power his voice still commands, his showmanship and then some. I still have goose bumps all over. I think they were at the time and him today, some of the most underatted acts of all time. Which leads me to my next observation. Why hasn't anyone, to my knowledge, been lobbying for them in order to enter the rock hall of fame. I know it's politics but haven't they impacted the music industry on a much larger scale than acts like blondie etc...... still don't get it ! If they would have done a few more (new) albums in the 80', i think they might have had a better shot (for many reasons). STYX As far as ''Styx'' is concern, it is nothing else, as far as i'm concerned, anything more than a cover band. they keep saying on how great gowan is and an accomplished performer he was in Canada. BS. Gowan is a good player but was a mediocre, at best, act in canada outside of the one important hit he had, so please......I keep on hearing these interviews over the years that TS and JY were so depressed because the styx music had changed during cornerstone and that they could not go on anymore. Please, this has been to me the biggest form of hypocrisy by these two members. One started medicating himself because he was not happy with the two ballads on the album; as far as i remember, didn't he write ''boat on the river'' (which i loved) a ballad ! As far as JY is concerned, i have always though of him as an excellent guitarist but a mediocre songwriter. So all these folks, in my opinion, just stayed and enjoyed the ride simply because Dennis's songs were making them tons and tons of money. Period and that is the end of that. By the way, i consider TS to be an excellent songwriter, even though his maturity has never been his strong side. For Dennis to go back to Styx would be beneath him in my opinion ! (do not go back DDY!!!!!!) The grand delusion I read the book with a lot of interest and to tell you the truth, i was pretty much disappointed with it. Did anyone truly learned anything new about Styx and all !! please tell me ! Actually, when i read the whole thing and saw all the bickering that was going on between ALL the members, i finished the book by having way more respect for Dennis than anyone else. I would have liked to hear about a general state of their finances (cool), something never heard about inside stories, but we only heard negative issues; After 20 years together, i barely heard one thing about positive or funny stories or anything related to the inside of the band. I basically read the same platitudes i read all these years !! As well, when were these interviews done, which would impact a few answers; you know, in the heat in the moment......... My little Dennis story is as is: i saw the 91 show in Montreal and saw him after the show; he asked me if i was going to Vermont the next day but told him i did not have any tickets; he asked me if i wanted some and i said ''twist my arm''; of course; next day, i go to Vermont with 2 of my friends, and there were 3 tickets for me !! the other Dennis story was that i saw him at a Montreal hotel after a show in Montreal in 96; spoke to the guy for about 10 minutes in the lobby and was very warm, funny and approachable ! That is the Dennis i know !! Anyway, i hope i did not offend anyone, it is just one guys opinion !!!
  8. thank you ! great to be hear !! =D>
