Chuck was married to Suzanne DeYoung's sister Pam, and was Dennis' good friend for over 40 years. He wrote the words to Unfinished Song, and also Winner Take All and The Serpent Is Rising. He also wrote an autobiography "In Spite of it All" detailing his service in the United States Marine Corps, and the difficulty for Vietnam Veterans to assimilate with the rest of America once they came back home. He was an organizer of the 1986 "Welcome Home Parade" for Veterans in Chicago--the largest event of its kind, and was Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Parade June 17-19, 2011.

Chuck was a daily visitor here at DDY Talk. He enjoyed reading the thoughts and comments of those that contributed, and was thankful for the support that is given to his good friend. Chuck was very proud of Unfinished Song and would get excited whenever someone would mention it. He was amazed that something he wrote so long ago still had relevance today.

In October 2007 gave an interview where members of DDYTalk could ask him questions: http://www.ddytalk.com/interview/chucklofrano.html

My thanks to Chuck for touching my life. May you rest in peace.

I spoke to Chuck several times over the years when I was researching my book. I always liked him. He was cool, a very funny guy and also a really fascinating guy who had done many things in his life. Because of the way things fell, he just could not consent to an interview, but being as close to Dennis as he was (and he really loved Dennis, you could just tell) he wanted me to know some things, and tried to steer me in a direction toward some sources who maybe COULD talk to me, and some stories to try to get on the record from other people.

We always wound up getting off topic and talked about his life, because he had just done so many interesting things. What a good guy, and I know this a huge loss for everyone who knew him.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Sterling

RIP Mr Lofrano. By all accounts, everything I ever read about him was positive.
