Got a kick out of this writeup:

There are some legendary bands that will simply never reunite. Fans have to accept it and move on.

The consolation prize is a concert by the band's former frontman or frontwoman. And, hopefully, a heavy dose of the band's classics outnumbering the lame new material he or she is peddling at the time.

This is a rare opportunity, but believe it or not we've got three chances in our area over the next week.

.....

•Dennis DeYoung, 8 p.m. Saturday at Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack in Chester, Pa.

Although the track has been hosting decent concerts since opening in 2004, this mark's the debut of the venue in this column. Simply put, it was impossible to resist the pull of DeYoung and the thunderous vocals he laid down in Styx.

DeYoung left the band in 1999 because of chronic fatigue syndrome, and an ugly legal battle went down when he felt good enough to perform again.

The lawsuit was settled in 2000, and as a result DeYoung can use Bill Clinton-esque phrases like "Dennis DeYoung performs The Music of Styx," but he won't be playing with his old band anytime soon. On an episode of "Behind The Music," guitarist James Young made the kind of unfunny quip that the band will reunite when "they are playing hockey on the river Styx." DeYoung, on the other hand, would be open to a reunion.

It boggles the mind that DeYoung and his bandmates have been unwilling and unable to mend this rift. No one wants to hear the members of Styx with a new singer and an orchestra performing the band's hits.

But people will come to see DeYoung belt out "Babe," "Come Sail Away" and, yep, "Mr. Roboto," as evidenced by the fact that he sold out this show in Chester. You might be able to score tickets ($35-$50) through Stubhub.com or elsewhere, or you can wait until May 7, when he returns to the area for a show at Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe, Pa.
